GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College softball split a Mountain East Conference doubleheader against South Division-leading Glenville State on Friday afternoon at the Sue Morris Sports Complex, falling 4-0 in the opener before bouncing back for a 6-1 victory in game two.

In the opener, the Senators (25-26) were held in check by Glenville State's Kylie Burdick, who fired a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts. Davis & Elkins managed three hits, including a double from Jules Gutierrez. Lorena Ruiz-Rubio and Madison Smith each singled, with Smith adding a stolen base. Sammie Jarvis (12-12) took the loss, allowing four runs—three earned—on six hits over five innings.

D&E rebounded in game two behind a strong performance from Lina Gutierrez, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Cortney Dobbs added two hits, including a triple, and an RBI, while Ashlyn Zapach, Jules Gutierrez, and Alyssa Haynes each drove in runs to help power the offense.
