PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse team fell to Malone, 24-7, on Saturday afternoon at neutral-site Multisport Performance Center. Despite the loss, goalie Avery Linthicum continued to shine between the pipes, recording 26 saves. Linthicum, who currently ranks in the top five in NCAA Division II for saves per game, put forth another stellar performance against a relentless Pioneers' offense.
D&E (1-7, 0-1) struggled to keep pace with Malone (2-3, 1-0), who fired 64 total shots, including 50 on goal. The Senators managed to find the back of the net seven times, with Tanner Delorme leading the way with two goals and an assist. Charlie Taylor, Xzavier Jankowiak, Matthew Smith, and Jordan Delorme each contributed a goal for D&E.
Malone used a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Senators 8-0, to seal the victory.
Despite the result, Linthicum's presence in goal remains a bright spot for Davis & Elkins. His 26-save effort was his third game this season with 25 or more stops, solidifying his place among the top goalies in Division II.
