Softball Earns Split at Space Coast Spring Games, Fracker Reaches 200 Career Wins

VIERA, Fla. – The Davis & Elkins College softball team split a pair of contests at the Space Coast Spring Games on Tuesday, falling to Bridgeport 7-2 before bouncing back with a 6-5 victory over Holy Family to give head coach Elle Fracker her 200th career win.

In the opener against Bridgeport, the Senators (4-13) managed eight hits but were limited to two runs. Davis & Elkins struck first with a run in the second inning and added another in the fifth, but Bridgeport capitalized on timely hitting and nine walks issued by the D&E pitching staff to pull away. Lina Gutierrez led the Senators' offense with a triple and an RBI, while Allie Cuellar and Lilly Saucedo each recorded doubles. Sammie Jarvis (1-6) took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits across five innings.

The second game against Holy Family was a back-and-forth battle that ended in thrilling fashion. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, D&E staged a dramatic comeback. Lina Gutierrez led off with a single but was erased on the base paths. With two outs, Allie Cuellar singled to keep the rally alive, and pinch runner April Belcher advanced to second on Jules Gutierrez's base hit. Lilly Saucedo then delivered the game-tying RBI with a single to center, bringing in Belcher and advancing Gutierrez to third. Freshman Meg Henkle followed with a clutch walk-off single, scoring Gutierrez to complete the 6-5 victory. In the circle, Alyssia Munoz and Saylor Kneeland combined to hold Holy Family scoreless over the final three innings to preserve the win.

The victory marked a milestone moment for Fracker, who reached 200 career wins in her fifth season leading the Senators.
