PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Roberts Wesleyan erupted for 25 goals in a dominant 25-5 victory over Davis & Elkins on Tuesday afternoon in a neutral-site matchup at the Multi-Sport Performance Center on the campus of the former Alderson Broaddus University. The game was relocated due to ongoing construction at Nuttall Field.
The Redhawks (3-3) set the tone early, scoring eight first-quarter goals while holding the Senators (1-7) scoreless for the opening half.
Roberts Wesleyan extended its lead with a 7-0 second quarter and never looked back, finishing with a 56-19 advantage in total shots. The Redhawks controlled possession, winning 30-of-34 faceoffs and picking up 42 ground balls compared to the Senators' 21.
D&E finally found some rhythm in the fourth quarter, scoring four times, including two goals from Charlie Taylor. The Senators' lone power-play goal came from Chuck Kretchman, assisted by Jordan Delorme.
D&E goalkeeper Avery Linthicum recorded 24 saves in the loss, moving him into the top-five in Division II for average saves per game (16).
