GREENSBURG, Pa. — Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse faced a tough test Tuesday afternoon, falling 33-2 to No. 4 nationally ranked Seton Hill in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action at DSG Field.
Seton Hill (8-1, 4-0 G-MAC) opened the game with a relentless offensive surge, posting 15 goals in the first quarter alone. The Griffins outshot the Senators 70-9 overall and controlled possession with a commanding 32-5 edge on faceoffs.
Davis & Elkins (1-10, 0-4 G-MAC) got on the board in the first quarter as sophomore Devon Garcia netted an unassisted goal at the 7:29 mark. Junior Xzavier Jankowiak added the Senators' second goal in the third quarter, also unassisted, finishing the day with a team-high three shots on goal.
Seton Hill saw 16 different players record goals, led by Nate Herbster's four-goal performance and a hat trick each from Noah Radle and Ayden Naranjo. The Griffins also logged 26 assists as part of their balanced attack.
In goal, freshman Avery Linthicum made 11 saves in the first half for the Senators, while sophomore Jacob Wilson added nine stops in relief. Despite the scoreline, the pair combined for 20 saves against a barrage of 53 shots on goal.
The Senators struggled to maintain possession, committing 35 turnovers and converting just 11 of 29 clear attempts. Seton Hill capitalized with a 20-of-22 mark on clears and forced 26 turnovers defensively.
