EDINBORO, Pa. — Ari Hinton scored a game-high four goals and Emelia Johnson added a hat trick to lead Davis & Elkins past Edinboro 12–8 on Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
The Senators used a dominant second half to overcome a halftime deficit, outscoring the Fighting Scots 8–2 after the break. Ke'ya Stevens netted two goals, including a third-period man-up score that sparked a 4–0 run. Johnson's third goal came with 5:11 remaining to extend the D&E lead to 11–6.
Hinton, a senior, also dished out an assist and led all players with nine shots on goal. Morgan Rogers tallied a pair of goals and an assist, and Kelsey Corcoran scored once for D&E, which picked up its first win of the season.
Goalkeeper Megan Bauer made seven saves in net for the Senators.
The Fighting Scots jumped ahead 6–4 at halftime, but were shut out in the third quarter.
D&E outshot Edinboro 36–20 and held a 26–15 edge in shots on goal. The Senators also forced 21 caused turnovers and scooped up 28 ground balls.
The game was tied 3–3 midway through the second quarter before Edinboro went on a 3–1 run. Johnson's goal in the final minute of the half trimmed the deficit to 6–4 before the second half rally.
