Women's Lacrosse Tops Lake Erie, 13-11

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Davis & Elkins College used a dominant second quarter and a balanced offensive attack to power past Lake Erie, 13-11, in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup on Friday (March 21) evening.

Ari Hinton led the Senators (4-6) with a game-high four points, scoring three goals and adding an assist. Ke'ya Stevens also notched a hat trick, including a pair of first-half goals that helped D&E flip a 4-3 deficit into a 10-5 halftime advantage.

The Senators (4-6, 0-1 MEC) exploded for seven goals in the second quarter, sparked by back-to-back tallies from Hinton and Rylee Anderson early in the period. Emelia Johnson found the back of the net twice, while Morgan Rogers and Hannah Lennon also contributed goals in the offensive surge. Izzie Sevila added a goal and an assist.

Lake Erie (1-8) cut into the lead in the second half, using a four-goal third quarter to close the gap.

Rogers tacked on a key fourth-quarter goal for D&E, her second of the contest, converting a player-up opportunity to halt the Storm's momentum. Goalie Megan Bauer made nine saves in the win.

D&E finished with a 33-28 advantage in total shots and controlled the draw 19-8, with Zoe Mackey collecting nine draw controls and four ground balls. The Senators overcame 32 turnovers by converting on 92 percent of their clear attempts and scoring two power-play goals.
