TIFFIN, Ohio – Battling through temperatures in the 20s with snow flurries, the Davis & Elkins women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-7 decision to Tiffin on Saturday afternoon at Paradiso Turf Field.
The Senators (0-3) started strong, taking an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter with goals from Rylee Anderson and Izzie Sevila. However, the Dragons (2-2) responded with two goals of their own to even the score by the end of the period.
D&E added a power-play goal from Ari Hinton early in the second quarter, but Tiffin countered with three unanswered goals to take a 5-3 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Ke'ya Stevens and Natalia Arias each found the back of the net for the Senators, but the Dragons continued to apply pressure, outscoring D&E 6-4 after the break. Stevens added her second goal of the day with under a minute remaining in the contest.
Senators goalie Megan Bauer recorded nine saves, keeping D&E in contention despite Tiffin's 25-24 advantage in total shots. Hinton led D&E with a goal and an assist, while Sierra Walesheck anchored the defense with a game-high seven caused turnovers.
