BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse team fell to Lees-McRae, 23-4, on Saturday afternoon at the Marching Virginians Center at Virginia Tech.
The Bobcats (2-3) jumped out to an early lead, scoring eight goals in the opening quarter and never looked back. They added 10 more in the second quarter to take an 18-3 lead into halftime.
The Senators (1-5) found the back of the net four times in the contest, with goals from Chuck Kretchman, Tanner Delorme, Charlie Taylor, and Liam Burke. Kretchman put D&E on the board first with a goal at the 13:31 mark of the opening quarter, assisted by Matthew Smith.
The Bobcats dominated possession, winning 23 of 30 faceoffs and outshooting the Senators 46-16.
D&E goalie Avery Linthicum, who ranks No. 10 in the nation in Division II for saves per game (14.67), recorded 14 saves in the loss.
