Baseball Drops Non-Conference Doubleheader at WVU Tech

Game 1: WVU Tech 7, Davis & Elkins 3

Beckley, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College put up a late rally, but it was not enough to overcome an early deficit in a 7-3 loss to WVU Tech in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

The Senators (1-14) were held scoreless through the first three innings before pushing across a run in the fourth. A two-run seventh inning showed signs of a comeback, but WVU Tech (8-9) had built a lead that D&E could not overcome.

Offensive Leaders:

Pitching:

  • Chase George (L, 0-3) started on the mound, allowing five earned runs on seven hits over three innings while striking out one.
  • Brycen Sechler pitched two innings, allowing two runs on three hits and walking two.
  • Bryce Hines pitched in relief, throwing one inning, striking out one, walking one, with no runs scored.

Game 2: WVU Tech 7, Davis & Elkins 4

D&E fell short in the second game of the twin bill, dropping a 7-4 decision despite a strong sixth-inning push. The Senators tallied four runs on nine hits but could not contain WVU Tech's offense, which capitalized on a three-run sixth inning to pull away.

Offensive Leaders:

Pitching:

  • Ethan Marshall started the game, allowing one run on one hit over one inning, walking one.
  • Cooper Blackburn provided a solid middle relief effort, tossing four innings while giving up three earned runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout.
  • Isaac Lane (L, 0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on two hits in 0.2 innings with one walk.
  • Dylan Miller pitched the final 0.1 inning, surrendering one hit but keeping WVU Tech off the scoreboard.
