ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins College secured a hard-fought 89-85 win over Frostburg State in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) contest Wednesday night, Senior Night at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators (10-17, 6-13 MEC) controlled the first half, surging to a 48-36 lead at the break behind a dominant presence in the paint and efficient shooting. Despite a late push from Frostburg State (12-15, 8-11 MEC), Davis & Elkins held firm in the closing minutes, converting key free throws to seal the win.
Nicolas Silva led the way for the Senators, delivering a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds, shooting an efficient 11-of-14 from the field. Charleston Ponds added 21 points, including three three-pointers, while Emmanuel Oladeru posted a 16-point, 11-rebound performance to anchor the inside game.
The Senators dominated the rebounding battle (51-24) and outscored the Bobcats 46-34 in the paint. Frostburg State shot just 39% from the field, while Davis & Elkins made 29-of-63 shots (46%), including 26 free throws.
