ATHENS, W.Va. – Despite a strong first-half effort, the Davis & Elkins men's basketball team fell to Concord University, 81-66, on Saturday evening at the Carter Center.
The Senators (9-16, 5-12 MEC) kept pace with the Mountain Lions (16-7, 13-4 MEC) early, trailing by just five points at halftime, 40-35. However, Concord outscored D&E 41-31 in the second half to secure the win.
Nnadozie Okoroji led the way for Davis & Elkins with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including two three-pointers. Kerem Sariaslan added 10 points and four assists, while Ben Gilliam pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to go with nine points.
D&E shot 35.6% (26-of-73) from the field but struggled from deep, hitting just 6-of-19 (31.6%) three-point attempts. The Senators recorded 12 assists and 11 steals while forcing 12 turnovers.
The Mountain Lions shot 44.4% (28-of-63) from the floor and held a 46-43 rebounding advantage.
