ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's basketball team used a dominant second-half performance to secure a 91-76 victory over Salem on Saturday evening at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators (10-11, 6-7 MEC) pulled away after a closely contested first half, outscoring the Tigers 47-32 after the break. D&E shot 47.2% from the field, including eight three-pointers, while dominating the glass with a 47-21 rebounding advantage.
Ben Gilliam led the way with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while Charleston Ponds added 15 points, three assists, and seven rebounds. Ja'Kobe Strozier contributed 14 points and eight rebounds, and Dontrell Jenkins chipped in 10 points with three assists.
Malachi Hampton played a key role off the bench with eight points and seven rebounds, while Emmanuel Oladeru and Nicolas Silva each provided nine points.
Davis & Elkins took control in the paint, scoring 50 points down low while adding 18 fast-break points. The Senators also received 27 points from their bench, helping them improve their home record.
