ATHENS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins men's cross country team earned a runner-up finish Friday evening at the Concord Invitational, totaling 43 points behind host Concord University's winning score of 18.
Sophomore Jacob Dowdy led the way for the Senators, crossing the line third overall in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26:37.9. Fellow freshman Andrew Stein followed close behind in seventh (27:24.8), while first-year runner Aiden Granger finished 10th (27:56.0) to round out D&E's top ten.
Junior Paul Langkopf (11th, 28:07.5) and freshman Landon Sweitzer (14th, 28:26.4) completed the scoring five for the Senators. Sophomore Nick Gallo (15th, 28:26.6) and freshman Gavin Whorton (20th, 30:30.3) also contributed strong finishes.
The meet served as the final regular-season tune-up before the Mountain East Conference Championships, where the Senators will compete on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
