ATHENS, W. Va. -- Davis & Elkins College Volleyball split a pair of matches on the opening day of the Concord Classic, earning their first win of the season against West Virginia Wesleyan before falling to Concord.

In the first match, Davis & Elkins secured a thrilling five-set victory over West Virginia Wesleyan, 26-24, 13-25, 25-18, 13-25, 15-9. This win marked the first career victory for Head Coach Julie Danner. The Senators were led by senior Reanne Debose, who tallied a match-high 19 kills. Haylie Marumoto orchestrated the offense with 42 assists, and the Senators recorded 13 service aces as a team?.

In the second match, D&E fell to host Concord in straight sets, 10-25, 15-25, 20-25. The Senators struggled offensively, hitting just .045 as a team. Debose once again paced the team with 14 kills, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong Concord performance?.

The Senators move to 1-4 on the season with their first conference match scheduled for September 24 at Point Park University.
