Troutville, Va. -- The Senators fell to the University of Charleston on day two of the MEC Softball Tournament but bounced back by defeating Glenville State to advance to tomorrow.
Game 1 vs Charleston 6-0 Loss
The Senators weren't able to get the offense going against the Golden Eagles as they were only able to collect one hit in the game. The Golden Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead and would add a run in the fifth inning and four in the sixth inning.
Jules Gutierrez went 1 for 2 in the game.
Game 2 vs Glenville State 9-6 Win
The Senators found the offense early in game two of the day to take an early lead over the Pioneers.
Ashlyn Zapach drove in a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly.
Two Pioneer errors would help the Senators score five runs in the second inning. Zapach and
Trinity Cossette would hit RBI singles, two runs would score on throwing errors and another run was scored on a fielder's choice.
The Pioneers would answer in the third inning by scoring six runs to tie the game. The score would remain 6-6 until the fifth inning when the Senators would score three runs.
Sharon Morales tripled in a run and
Linzey Allard followed with a two-run homerun.
Zapach and
Allison Cuellar each collected two hits in the game.
Sammie Jarvis picked up her 17th win of the season in the circle.
