Troutville, Va. -- The Senators opened up the MEC Softball Tournament with a victory over Frostburg State 5-4.
Sharon Morales led the offensive attack for the Senators going 2 for 2 with two walks, two runs scored and three stolen bases.
The Senators got the scoring started in the first inning when
Lilly Saucedo drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. They added another run in the second inning on a fielder's choice by
Gweny Wessling.
The Senators would extend their lead to 5-2 in the fifth inning.
Linzey Allard singled in a run before the Senators scored another run on an error by the Bobcats. The Senators would score their final run on an
Allison Cuellar RBI single. The Bobcats would add three runs of their own in the fifth inning but the Senators would keep them off the board over the final two innings to secure the victory.
Linzey Allard went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Sammie Jarvis picked up the win in the circle going the distance while striking out five hitters.
