Elkins, W.Va -- The Senators took care of business on Saturday against Concord and clinched a spot in the MEC Softball Tournament next week. This came after a tough doubleheader on Friday against Glenville State.
Game 1 vs Glenville State 5-3 Loss
The Senators took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when
Linzey Allard hit a solo homerun. The Pioneers would answer with two runs of their own in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead.
The Senators regained the lead when
Lilly Saucedo hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Pioneers would score three runs in the seventh inning to pull out the victory.
Game 2 vs Glenville State 8-5 Loss
The Pioneers jumped out early on the Senators and took a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Senators would get the offense going when Julie Gutierrez hit a solo homerun and
Trinity Fleming drove in a run with a double to make it 6-2 after four innings.Â
The Senators would score another run in the fifth inning when
Linzey Allard singled in a run. In the sixth inning the Senators made it a ball game by scoring two more runs with
Trinity Fleming driving in a run with a sacrifice fly and
Trinity Cossette added an RBI double to make the score 6-5 going into the seventh. The Pioneers would add two runs in the seventh to pull out the win.

Linzey Allard and Julie Gutierrez each collected two hits.
Game 1 vs Concord 4-3 Win
The Senator offense got going early and held on to win game one against Concord and clinched a spot in the MEC Softball Tournament.
Linzey Allard and
Ashlyn Zapach each drove in runs with singles in the first inning.
In the second inning
Linzey Allard added a two-run homerun to help the Senators take a 4-1 lead after the second inning. Concord would add runs in the third and sixth innings to make the score 4-3 but the Senators would hold on for the win.
Linzey Allard was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBI.
Game 2 vs Concord 9-4 Win
The Senators jumped out to another early lead when
Sharon Morales hit a solo homerun and
Lilly Saucedo followed with a two-run homerun to take a 3-1 lead after the first inning.
Maddie Lavelle added a three-run homerun in second inning to make the score 6-1.Â
Concord added three runs in the sixth inning to make it a 6-4 game. The Senators would put the game away in the bottom of the sixth when
Sharon Morales drove in a run with a double and they added two more runs on a fielder's choices.Â
Sharon Morales was 2 for 3 with three runs scored and three RBI.
