Elkins, W.Va. -- The Senators were finally able to get Mother Nature to cooperate and played their first official home games of the season against West Virginia Wesleyan. The Senators were able to pick up a split and moved up one spot in the MEC standings.
Game 1 vs West Virginia Wesleyan 2-0 Loss
The Bobcats got the scoring started in game one by taking advantage of an error and scoring an unearned run. They added a run in the fifth inning and that's all they would need as they held the Senators offense to only two hits in the game.
Linzey Allard and
Jules Gutierrez each collected a hit.
Vanessa Hunt was solid in the circle in defeat throwing seven innings and only allowing one earned run.
Game 2 vs West Virginia Wesleyan 6-2 Win
The Senators offense got going early in game two scoring in the bottom of the first on a Ashlynn Zapach sacrifice fly. The Bobcats would respond with a run in the second inning before
Allison Cuellar hit a solo homerun for the Senators to make the score 2-1.
The Bobcats would tie the game in the top of the sixth inning before the Senators put the game away in the bottom of the inning. After scoring the go-ahead run on a wild pitch,
Alyssa Haynes hit a three-run homerun to make the score 6-2.
Cuellar, Haynes and
Trinity Cossette each collected two hits.
Sammie Jarvis picked up her 13th win of the season throwing seven innings while striking out seven and only allowing two earned runs.
