Elkins, W.Va. -- The Senators picked up three big MEC wins this weekend in games against West Liberty University and Wheeling University. After splitting with West Liberty on Saturday, the Senators picked up a sweep of Wheeling on Sunday.
Game 1 vs West Liberty 4-2 Win
The Senators used a late rally to pick up a victory in game one of the weekend. West Liberty scored runs in the third and sixth innings to take a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the sixth inning.Â
The Senators would put together a big inning in the sixth by scoring four runs to take a 4-2 lead.
Lilly Saucedo doubled in the first run for the Senators before they added runs on an error and wild pitch.
Gweny Wessling would drive in the final run with an RBI single.
Saucedo led the offense going 2 for 3 while
Vanessa Hunt picked up the win in the circle.
Game 2 vs West Liberty 9-3 Loss
West Liberty's offense jumped out to an early lead but scoring four runs in the first inning. The Senators would add two runs in their half of the inning on a fielder's choice and an error to make the score 4-2 after one inning.
West Liberty would add two runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning to take a 9-2 lead. The Senators would score their final run in the sixth inning on a fielder's choice.
Gweny Wessling drove in two runs and
Lilly Saucedo added a double.
Game 1 vs Wheeling 7-2 Win
The Senators got on the board first when
Lilly Saucedo singled in a run in the first inning. They added to their lead in the fourth inning when
Linzey Allard tripled in two runs to make the score 3-0.
In the fifth inning
Jules Gutierrez hit a three-run homerun to make the score 6-0 and
Trinity Cossette stole home in the sixth inning to finish the scoring for the Senators.
Cossette was 3 for 3 on the game and Allard and Saucedo each added two hits.Â
Vanessa Hunt picked up the complete game victory in the circle only allowing two runs (zero earned) in the game.
Game 2 vs Wheeling 7-1 Win
The Senators offense would stay hot in game two of the doubleheader. They would score four runs in the second inning on a
Jules Gutierrez solo homerun,
Linzey Allard two RBI single and a
Lilly Saucedo RBI single.
Wheeling would score a run in the fourth inning but Saucedo would respond with another RBI single in the bottom of the inning to make the score 5-1. The Senators put the game away in the fifth inning when
Alyssa Haynes hit a two-run homerun.
Saucedo went 3 for 4 while Allard and
Sharon Morales each added two hits.
Sammie Jarvis picked up the win in the single throwing a complete game while striking out ten.
