Athens, W.Va. -- The Senators dropped a doubleheader to Concord University by scores of 15-7 and 6-5.
Ashlyn Zapach led the way for the Senators going 5 for 6 with 2 homeruns, 2 doubles, 5 runs scored and 5 RBI on the day.
Game 1 vs Concord 15-7 Loss
The Senators jumped on top early by scoring 4 runs in the top of the first inning.
Lilly Saucedo got the scoring started with an RBI single and
Ashlyn Zapach followed with a 3-run homerun. The lead would be short lived as the Mountain Lions would score 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added another run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game 4-4.
The Mountain Lions would explode for 11 runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 15-4 lead. The Senators would score a run in the top of the fourth and then
Trinity Fleming drove in two runs in the top of the fifth but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.
Zapach went 3 for 3 with a homerun, double, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.
Saucedo and Fleming each had 2 hits on the day.
Game 2 vs Concord 6-5 Loss
Once again the Senators would jump out to an early lead over the Mountain Lions. In the second inning
Ashlyn Zapach hit a solo homerun and the Senators added another unearned run to take a 2-0 lead.
The Senators added on in the third inning when Zapach doubled in a run and
Trinity Fleming added a RBI single to make the score 4-0. The Mountain Lions scored 3 runs in the fourth inning before
Jules Gutierrez doubled in a run in the 5th inning to extend the Senator lead to 5-3.
The Mountain Lions scored 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 5-5. The Mountain Lions would hit a two-out, walk-off single to end the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Zapach was 2 for 3 with a homerun, double, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.
Gutierrez was 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI.
