Buckhannon, W.Va. -- The Senators picked up two big MEC wins over West Virginia Wesleyan on the road Wednesday. The wins improve the Senators record to 14-9 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Game 1 vs West Virginia Wesleyan 7-6 Win
After the Bobcats scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning the Senators would get on the board thanks to an unearned run in the top of the second inning. The Senators would take the lead in the third inning when
Ashlyn Zapach launched a 3-run homerun to make the score 4-2.
The Bobcats would add a run in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-4 lead. The Senators would get three runs of their own in the sixth inning on an RBI single by
Alyssa Haynes that was followed by RBI doubles by
Lilly Saucedo and Zapach.
Zapach went 3 for 4 with a run scored and 4 RBI.
Saucedo went 3 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI.
Jules Gutierrez and
Trinity Fleming each had mult-hit games.
Game 2 vs West Virginia Wesleyan 6-0 Win
Sammie Jarvis was dominant in the circle for the Senators throwing a complete game shutout while striking out 12. The Senators would score four runs in the third inning to take control of the game.
Sharon Morales and
Linzey Allard had RBI singles in the inning and
Lilly Saucedo drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
The Senators would score two more runs in the fourth inning to put the game away thanks to an error by the right fielder. That would be all the run support Jarvis would need.
Morales led the offense going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and a RBI.
