Evansville, Ind. -- The Senator softball team split a pair of games on Saturday during day two of the Blue Bridge Battle.
Game 1 vs Trevecca Nazarene University 9-3 Loss
The Senators got on the board in the bottom of the first inning scoring 3 runs on 1 hit and several Trojan miscues. The first run came across on a wild pitch and then 2 runs scored on a single by
Jules Gutierrez.
The Trojans would score a run in both the third and fourth innings to cut the Senator lead to 3-2. The score would remain the same until the top of the seventh inning when the Trojans offense would explode for 7 runs and pull out the win.
Sharon Morales would go 2 for 4 while Gutierrez was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI to lead the Senators.
Game 2 vs University of Missouri St. Louis 2-1 Win
The Senators would jump out in front again in game two of the day by scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning.
Sharon Morales lead the game off by getting hit by a pitch and immediately stole second base.
Alyssa Haynes would follow with an RBI double and would later score on an RBI single by
Lilly Saucedo.
That would be all the offense the Senators would need as they held the Tritons scoreless through six innings. The Tritons would threaten in the bottom of the seventh inning by scoring a run and getting the tying run to second base with one out. However,
Sammie Jarvis would slam the door by recording the final two outs to secure the win for the Senators.
