Evansville, Ind. -- The Senator softball team is in Evansville, Ind. participating in the Blue Bridge Battle hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan. Davis & Elkins would fall short in their first two games on Friday.
Game 1 vs University of Illinois Springfield 4-2 Loss
The Senators would take an early 2-0 lead after two innings thanks to an unearned run in each of the first two innings. The score would remain 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when Illinois Springfield would score their first run on an RBI double to right center field. The Prairie Stars would add 3 more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the comeback win.
Sharon Morales led the Senators offense going 2 for 4 with a run scored and 2 stolen bases.
Allison Cuellar added a double and a run scored.
Game 2 vs University of Alabama Huntsville 13-2 Loss
The Chargers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the top of the first inning. The Senators would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning after a sac fly by
Linzey Allard and an RBI single by
Lilly Saucedo.
The Chargers would add five more runs in the second inning behind two homeruns to put the game out of reach.
Sharon Morales, Allard and Saucedo each recorded a hit for the Senators.
