Baseball Drops Two Against WVU Tech

Beckley, W.Va. -- The Senators were on the road for a doubleheader against WVU Tech on Wednesday afternoon. The offense for the Senators came to life in both games but it wasn't enough as the Golden Bears won both games of the doubleheader.

Game 1 vs WVU Tech 30-5 Loss
WVU Tech struck first with 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead. The Senators would respond with 4 runs of their own in the top of the second. Connor Hyde would get the scoring started with an RBI single to center field. Tanner Cook would immediately follow with a 3-run homerun to center field to tie game at 4-4. The rest of the game would be all Golden Bears as they cruised to a game one victory.

Tanner Cook would pace the Senator offense going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

Cort Kegley and Aydin Zimmerman would each collect 2 hits.

Game 2 vs WVU Tech 10-6 Loss
The Golden Bears would jump out to another 4-0 lead after the first inning in game two. Tanner Cook would drive in a run in the top of the second inning on a sac fly. The Senators would add another run in the top of the 3rd to make the score 4-2 in favor of the Golden Bears.

After the Golden Bears would add on two more runs in the bottom of the third inning, the Senators would answer back with two of their own. Logan Bradish hit a double to center field to drive in the first run and Fletcher Hindman would add an RBI single with 2 outs to pull the Senators within 6-4.

Hindman would add an RBI double down the left field line in the top of the 6th to make the score 8-5. WVU Tec out add two more runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-5 lead into the last inning.

Bradish would add a RBI single to center field to make the score 10-6 but WVU Tech would retire the next two batters to end the game.

Bradish lead the offense going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Cort Kegley added 2 hits and 2 runs scored.

The Senators return to action on Saturday, March 2nd against Minnesota Crookston at 6:00pm as part of the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, FL.
