Elkins, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins saw Salem jump out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and weren't able to recover and fell at home 69-58.
Jaela Reid led the Senators with 15 points on 4-5 shooting from the field and 7-7 from the free throw line.
Salem built their 13-point lead after the first quarter by shooting 6-13 (46.15%) from the field, including 3-8 (37.50%) from behind the arc. The Senators defense played well in the second quarter holding the Tigers to only 11 points and cut into the lead but trailed 32-22 going into halftime.
Davis & Elkins would come out of halftime shooting 5-11 (45.45%) from the field in the 3rd quarter while continuing their strong defense. The result was cutting the Tiger lead to 47-40 after three quarters. The fourth quarter would start the same as the Senators cut the lead to 4 points with 7:11 remaining in the game. However, Salem would go on a 12-4 run over the next 2:30 to put the game away.
Taylor Smith would add 15 points and 8 rebounds for the Senators.
Alexis Smith scored 10 points and
Madison Butler added 9 points and 5 rebounds.
