ELKINS, W.Va. — A balanced team performance led the Davis & Elkins College men's basketball team to a 98-83 victory over Wheeling University (3-4, 0-2 MEC) in Mountain East Conference action Wednesday night at the McDonnell Center.
Sam Rolle led the Senators with a stellar all-around game, tallying 21 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Nicolas Silva added a dominant presence in the paint with 17 points and seven rebounds, shooting 8 of 13 from the field. Ben Gilliam provided a spark off the bench, contributing 14 points, including key buckets in the second half, along with four rebounds and two blocks.
Charleston Ponds also chipped in eight points, knocking down two three-pointers, while Zatai Townsend added nine points, including five free throws. The Senators dominated inside, outscoring Wheeling 64-30 in the paint and scoring 18 points off turnovers.
