WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Despite a valiant offensive effort, the Davis & Elkins College men's basketball team fell to undefeated West Liberty (8-0, 3-0 MEC), 107-93, in a fast-paced Mountain East Conference matchup Saturday evening at the ASRC.
The Senators (5-5, 2-2 MEC) were led by a stellar performance from Nicolas Silva, who tallied 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, and added a block and a steal. Sam Rolle IV chipped in 18 points and orchestrated the offense with five assists. Ben Gilliam delivered an efficient 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting while also contributing six rebounds.
Ja'Kobe Strozier and Isaiah Buckley added 11 points apiece, with Strozier knocking down a three-pointer and Buckley adding three assists. Dontrell Jenkins connected on two three-pointers to finish with eight points.
The Senators controlled the paint with 64 points, emphasizing their inside game. Despite their strong offensive showing, D&E struggled to contain the Hilltoppers' outside shooting, as West Liberty sank 18 three-pointers.
