Senator Men Drop Tightly Contested Game to Point Park 64-62

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's basketball team fell in a closely contested matchup against Point Park University on Saturday at the McDonnell Center, 64-62. Despite a valiant effort, the Senators were unable to hold on late, dropping their record to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in MEC play.

Leading the charge for Davis & Elkins was Nicolas Silva, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Silva was efficient from the floor, knocking down two three-pointers and showcasing his defensive prowess with three blocked shots and two steals.

Dontrell Jenkins contributed 12 points, hitting six of 12 shots, and added four assists. He also grabbed five rebounds and was a steady presence on both ends of the court.

Isaiah Buckley chipped in nine points, primarily from the free-throw line, where he was a perfect 5-for-5. Buckley also added four assists in his 32 minutes on the court.

Off the bench, Ja'Kobe Strozier provided six points and five rebounds, including a crucial offensive board late in the game. Emmanuel Oladeru also added six points and three rebounds, playing an impactful role in the paint.

The Senators outshot Point Park from the field, converting 41.9% of their attempts compared to Point Park's 35.3%. However, turnovers and second-chance points proved costly, with Point Park scoring 23 points off offensive rebounds.

Davis & Elkins had an opportunity to tie or win in the final seconds but couldn't convert as time expired.

The Senators will look to bounce back in their next conference game following the holiday break on January 8 at Glenville State.
