FROSTBURG, Md. — The Davis & Elkins College men's basketball team opened its Mountain East Conference campaign with an impressive 85-78 road victory over Frostburg State on Saturday at Bobcat Arena.
The Senators (4-3, 1-0 MEC) were led by Nicolas Silva, who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds while shooting an efficient 9-of-13 from the field. Ja'Kobe Strozier contributed 10 points and a key dunk late in the game, while Nnadozie Okoroji added 14 points and eight rebounds.
D&E built a 41-40 halftime lead, showcasing balanced scoring and a strong inside presence. The Senators dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bobcats 46-24. A second-half surge, including timely three-pointers and a commanding rebounding performance, sealed the win.
Frostburg State (1-6, 0-1 MEC) was paced by Jaden Baker's 33 points and 11 rebounds. Despite Baker's standout performance, the Bobcats struggled to overcome the Senators' defensive pressure and depth, with Davis & Elkins' bench outscoring Frostburg State's reserves 26-11.
The Senators shot 47.7% from the field (31-of-65) and capitalized on their free-throw opportunities, going 16-of-23 from the line. They also displayed their defensive intensity with six steals and three blocks, forcing Frostburg into eight turnovers.
