ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College fell to Wheeling in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, losing 25-20, 25-16, 25-8 in Mountain East Conference play at the McDonnell Center. The Senators dropped to 5-11 overall and 2-7 in MEC action, while Wheeling improved to 14-7 (6-1 MEC).
Gracjana Rozanska led the Senators with seven kills, hitting .333 on 15 attacks. Reanne Debose and Melisa Ozsar added six kills apiece, with Debose also recording four digs and a block assist. Haylie Marumoto paced Davis & Elkins with 20 assists, adding 10 digs and a service ace.
Despite eight ties and three lead changes in the opening set, Davis & Elkins couldn't maintain momentum, struggling in attack efficiency, particularly in the third set where they hit -.118 as a team.
