Institute, W.Va. -- West Virginia State used a 10-2 run at the end of the first half and a strong shooting performance in the second half to pull out the victory over the Senators 85-78.
The first half saw a back and forth battle with neither team holding more than a four point lead until just over three minutes left in the half. After a made layup by Tristan Sparks with 2:45 left in half cut the lead to 24-22 the Yellow Jackets went on their 10-2 run to take a 34-24 lead into the break.
The Senators would cut the lead to 4 points on a
Sam Rolle IV jumper with 11:34 left in the game but West Virginia State would shoot 53.57% (15-28) from the field in the second half to control the remainder of the game.Â
Sam Rolle IV led the offense for the Senators with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
