Elkins, W.Va. -- The Senators started the game determined on both ends of the court to pull away from Glenville State on the way to a 92-75 victory in the McDonnell Center. The win moved the Senators to 9-4 on the season and kept them in a tie for second place in the MEC standings with a 5-1 conference record.
Davis & Elkins shot the ball extremely well in the first half going 17-35 (45.57%) from the field including 10-21 (47.62%) from three-point range. More impressively, the Senators defense locked down the Pioneers in the first half holding them to only 6-34 (17.65%) from the field on their way to a 50-23 lead at halftime.
The Senators lead would grow to as many as 34 two minutes into the second half. Glenville State would use a strong stretch in the middle of the second half to cut the Senators lead down to 13 with 7:34 left to play in the game but the Senators held off the rally and pulled out the 17 point win.
Sam Rolle IV led the way on both ends of the court scoring a game high 25 points while collecting 6 steals.
Vadim Clanet put together a strong game with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Clarens Pierre controlled the paint on the defense end collecting 7 defensive rebounds (8 total) and 5 blocks.
Nicolas Silva (9 points and 7 rebounds) and
Malachi Hampton (8 points and 8 rebounds) provided the Senators strong efforts on both ends of the court off the bench.
