WISE, Va. -- The Davis & Elkins Volleyball Team began its 2023 season at the UVA-Wise Cavalier Classic over the weekend. They young squad, under first-year head coach Moneshia McKenney was unable to pull out a win in the tournament but remain optimistic as they prepare for a couple more tough tournament tests prior to entering Mountain East Conference play.

D&E fell 3-0 in matches with Lees-McRae, Concord, and UVA-Wise, before picking up a set with Johnson C. Smith in their finale, before falling 1-3.

Concord finished the tournament 4-0.

D&E will travel to Amherst, N.Y. for the Wildcat Den Classic, presented by Ellicott Hotels September 8-9. The tournament, hosted by Daemen University, will feature California, Pa., Ohio Dominican, and host Daemen. Cal sits at 3-0, Ohio Dominican at 2-1, and Daemen has a 2-2 record entering the tournament.
