Karsel Scores a Pair as D&E Downs Salem 8-1

ELKINS, W.Va. -- It was another offensive display for the Davis & Elkins women in their Wednesday evening home soccer match with Salem University as they sent the Tigers home with an 8-1 loss. Alexa Karsel again led the attack for the Senators, scoring two of the eight goals in the win.

Madison Rose got the scoring started for D&E, with a goal in the eighth minute. It was Rose's second of the season. Kristia Kouppi was next to score when she found the net at the fifteen minute mark. Karsel scored the game's third goal twenty-one minutes into action off a Catalina Salas assist. Jimena Guerrero got into the act nine minutes later when Karsel served up the assist. The Senators led 4-0 at the break. Seventeen minutes into the second half, Manoela Piraja score her first goal of the season off a Karsel assist.

The Tigers' Sarah Cabera scored Salem's lone goal of the match at the sixty-three minute mark.

Karsel scored her second goal of the match and fifth of the season in the sixty-eighth minute and then assisted Rylie Galterio three minutes later for Galterio's first goal of the season. Angelina Bochard scored D&E's final goal of the match at the seventy-ninth minute off a Sage Bechtold assist. It was Bochard's first of the season. 

The Senators outshot Salem 22-4 and had 15 shots on goal to Salem's 1.

Gabriela Acevedo and Lindsay Poplin split time in goal, with Acevedo playing the first half and Poplin playing the second half. Acevedo was credited with the win.

The Senators travel to Wheeling University to take on the Cardinals on Sunday, October 1. Game time is set for 1pm.
