CANTON, Ohio -- Davis & Elkins picked up a win in its conference home opener over the weekend, 12-11 over Malone University.

D&E opened Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on the road in a tightly-contested match that saw both teams within one goal of one another throughout the contest and tied until just 2:12 remained on the clock before the Senators scored the final goal to take the win.

Malone was first to score in the first period and D&E scored the next two.
Nolan Morrison was first to score for the Senators off a
Tyler Kolodka assist.
Austin Derx scored next and was assisted by
Travis Scala. Malone scored again to tie the game at two apiece before D&E took a 3-2 lead on an unassisted
Cooper Jackson goal.

Malone was again first to score in the second period to tie the score 3-3.
Tre Turner then assisted
Zach Lontayao on a goal to put D&E ahead again 4-3. Malone struck again to tie the game again at 4-4. D&E scored two in a row. First, Morrison scored unassisted. Kolodka scored again off a
Joshua Allegra assist. Malone answered with a pair of goals to even the game 6-6 to finish the half.

Morrison led off the second half with another unassisted goal. Malone scored the following two to take an 8-7 lead. D&E again took back the lead with two more goals to go up 9-8. Kolodka scored off a Morrison assist, then Lontayao scored off an Allegra assist. Malone scored the third period's final goal to tie the score once again at 9-9.

The teams again traded goals in the fourth period. D&E struck first when Turner scored off a Morrison assist. Malone scored the next two to go up 11-10. The Senators needed two more goals in the closing minutes to take the win. Morrison and Allegra scored once again with Lontayao and
Jakob Makarenko assisting, respectively.

Morrison led the Senators with six points (4 goals on 9 shots on goal and 2 assists). Kolodka and Lontayao each added 2 goals and 1 assist. Allegra chipped in 1 goal and 2 assists. Turner added 1 goal and 1 assist.

Xzavier Jankowiak led D&E with seven ground balls. Makarenko added six. Morrison and Scala added five each.
