FROSTBURG, Md. – A balanced attack, led by
Ellie Wilkerson's 22 points helped D&E overcome a four point halftime deficit to defeat Frostburg State on the road 71-65.
Jackie Wright was also a huge spark off the bench for the Senators with 10 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal.
In all, the Senators had four players in double figures. Aside from Wilkerson's 22 on 9 of 15 attempts and Wright's 10 points on 5 of 11 attempts,
Taylor Smith poured in 17 on 6 of 18 with two three pointers and
LaChazity Shaver and scored 10 on 3 of 10.
Also scoring in the contest were
Jaela Reid (6),
Madison Butler (4), and
Victoria Sturm (2).
The win puts D&E at 6-20 overall and 6-15 in the Mountain East Conference. With one game remaining, the Senators have positioned themselves in a tie for eighth place with Frostburg in the MEC standings. D&E owns the tiebreaker, having won both contests this season against Frostburg.
The Senators close out the season at home Saturday against West Virginia Wesleyan. Tip is set for 2pm.
