Men's Lacrosse Downs Thomas More in Home Opener

ELKINS, W. Va. - The Davis & Elkins College Men's Lacrosse team took to Nuttall Field for the first time this season to host Thomas More on a beautiful early spring afternoon in Elkins. The offense came alive, with ten different Senators scoring goals in the 22-7 D&E victory.

The first half started off strong, with a goal from Freshman Tre Turner off of a faceoff win from Junior Buddy Brown on the first play of the game. Additional goals from Tyler Kolodka with an assist from Nolan Morrison, Xzavier Jankowiak, Morrison, and another from Turner assisted by Cooper Jackson got the Senators out to a 6-1 lead going into the second quarter.

The Saints struck first in the second quarter, making it a 6-2 game. D&E responded with goals from Travis Scala, Joshua Allegra, his first of the season, and Zach Lontayao to put the Senators up 9-2. Kolodka scored twice more in the quarter to put D&E well ahead 11-2. Thomas More was able to net one more, going into halftime with an 11-3 score.

The second half saw much of the same from the D&E squad, with Kolodka ending up with 6 goals on the day, hat tricks for Turner and Morrison, and two goals each for Allegra, Lontayao, and Austin Derx. Rounding out the scorers were Jackson, Jankowiak, Brown, and Scala. Some defensive lapses later in the game led to four goals from Thomas More, but the Senators lead was ultimately too much to overcome in a 22-7 final score.
