ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins played host to Ohio Dominican Wednesday evening and came away with an 85-80 win in its men's basketball home opener.
Tristan Starks led the way for the Senators with 24 points on 8 of 12 from the field. Starks was 6 of 9 from beyond the arc and 2 for 2 in free throws.
Sam Rolle IV was solid in the other guard position as he poured in 13 points, dished out a game-high 8 assists, and a game-high 3 steals. Rolle found his way to the free throw line 10 times, knocking down 9 from the stripe.
Junior,
Charleston Ponds had his first double-double performance as a Senator, scoring 10 points and pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures was
Clarens Pierre with 12 points on 6 of 7 shooting.
D&E led the Panthers 36-32 at the half and the game saw 9 ties and 8 lead changes. The Senators led by as many as 10 points in the contest.
The D&E win moves the Senators to 2-1 prior to Mountain East Conference play.

D&E opens MEC play on Saturday, November 18 against Frostburg State. The doubleheader will open with the women's game at 2pm. The men are set to tip at 4pm.
