ELKINS, W.Va. -- In its Mountain East Conference men's basketball opener, Davis & Elkins handled Frostburg State in all facets of a lopsided victory as they downed the Bobcats 85-57.
The Senators took control early, leading by as many as 10 points in the first half and headed to the locker room with a 37-28 lead. D&E then reeled off 48 second half points on 56.7% shooting to put the contest out of reach.
Sam Rolle IV led all scorers with 21 points. He also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Rolle was 11 of 13 from the free throw line.
Tristan Starks added 13 points and 4 rebounds. The junior guard was 4 for 8 from the field, including 3 of 7 from beyond the arc.
Ben Gilliam came off the bench to add 14 points, 5 rebounds, and a block in just 19 minutes of action. Gilliam was a perfect 6 of 6 from the field and 2 for 2 from the free throw line.
Nnadozie Okoroji added 11 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal.
Freshman
Malachi Hampton had a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 2 points and a block in his first start.
Dontrell Jenkins contributed 9 points a rebound and a steal.
Clarens Pierre had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 2 steals.
Charleston Ponds added 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Senators moved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the MEC.
