Tristram and Veser Score Late to Tie Falcons in Women's Soccer Matchup

ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins erased a 2-0 Fairmont State lead late in its Homecoming matchup to knot the game at two goals apiece. The contest ended in a 2-2 tie in Saturday afternoon MEC women's soccer play.

Fairmont State jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Serenity Thomas scored in the twelfth minute off an Isabella Maldonado assist.

D&E outshot the Falcons in the first half, 6-3 and put four on goal to Fairmont State's three but trailed by a goal going into halftime.

Fairmont State went up 2-0 in the fifty-eighth minute when Kylee Kosek scored off a Kiera Kuzinski assist.

D&E's Sasha Tristram chipped away at the Falcons' lead when she scored her first goal of the season. Vivian Kerr assisted on the goal.

Four minutes later, Kerr connected with Madeline Veser and Veser found the back of the net to even the score 2-2.

D&E once again outshot the Falcons for the half, 7-6. They put six of they seven shots on goal, while Fairmont State put just four on goal.

Alexa Karsel put pressure on the Fairmont State keeper, with five shots on goal. Ciara Casamento also had a pair of shots on goal.

Gabriela Acevedo had five saves in the net for the Senators.

Prior to the contest, members of the D&E administration, Davis Trust Company, and the women's soccer team dedicated the Davis Trust Company Player and Press Pavilion on Nuttall Field.

The Senators are back at home on Wednesday, October 18 at 7pm against the University of Charleston.
