ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins battled the Mountain East Conference's top team on Saturday afternoon in the rain and fell 1-0 to the University of Charleston.
Charleston came out firing in the first half, outshooting the Senators 9-1. The Golden Eagles put four shots on goal to D&E's one.
The game's lone score came in the sixteenth minute, when Charleston's Joao Belmudes connected following a Stafford Dowling assist.
The teams were a bit more evenly match on the offensive side in the second half as they bother managed six shots. D&E put one more shot on goal than Charleston, 4-3.
The Senators' keeper,
Grant Wyles had six saves in the net.
