ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins women's lacrosse team dropped their Mountain East Conference opener Wednesday evening to the University of Charleston. The Golden Eagles scored 10 first half goals and added eight in the second half to take an 18-4 win. UC applied pressure defense all evening making it tough on the Senators. Charleston had 41 shots compared to D&E's 18.
Haley Leavines and
Ari Hinton each had two goals.
Emily Smith had one assist.
Marissa Cuevas had 18 saves in goal.
D&E drops to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in the MEC.
Charleston improves to 3-4 and 1-0 in the league.
The Senators return to action Saturday at noon, hosting West Virginia Wesleyan College. Seniors will be recognized before the start of the contest.
