ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's lacrosse team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan College by the score of 22-9 Saturday afternoon at Nuttall Field. Prior to the contest D&E recognized senior lacrosse players

The Senators outscored the Bobcats 4-1 in the first period. Smith and
Haley Leavines each had two goals in the frame.
Mikaela Vento assisted on three of the four. D&E would erupt for eight goals in the second quarter to take a 12-3 lead at the half. Wesleyan would cut the deficit to seven on a goal at the 12:39 mark of the third period.
Griselle Rosado found the net with 21 seconds left in the period to give the Senators an 18-7 lead heading into the final 15 minutes. Davis & Elkins would out score WVWC 4-2 in the final quarter to secure a 22-9 Mountain East Conference victory.
Senior
Emily Smith led the Senators with eight points. Smith scored seven goals, had one assist, and forced three turnovers. Leavines scored six goals on only eight shots. Rosado added five goals followed by
Ari Hinton three and Vento one. Hinton and Vento each had four assists.
Marissa Cuevas scooped a team high four ground balls and had 14 saves in goals.
D&E improves to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the MEC.
The Bobcats drop to 2-5 and 0-2 in the league.
Davis & Elkins returns to action Sunday, April 10
th at Notre Dame College. Opening draw control is scheduled for 1:00pm.
