Volleyball Falls to Surging Charleston

ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins suffered another home setback on Tuesday evening in three sets. The Senators faced a surging Charleston team that has only lost one conference game all season.

D&E dropped a tightly contested first set 25-19, keeping the score within one until their 18th point. The Senators ultimately couldn't hold on with several unforced errors toward the end of the set.

In the second set, D&E was down by as many as 6 points but were able to cut the lead to 3, but once again were unable to capitalize falling 25-18.

The third and final set was full of ups and downs, as the Senators jumped ahead early, fell behind, then mounted a late attempt at a comeback winning 3 straight points to make it a 24-22 game, but fell just short in a 25-23 final tally.

The Senators were led by Macie Magallon's eleven kills and one block.

Maria Isabel Butruce Candiota added nine kills and a block.

Reanne Debose contributed nine kills and one dig.

Brianna Portley had five kills and two blocks.

Clara Caralt contributed twelve digs.

Brilane Manchego added twenty-nine assists.

Jeanne Hassoun had five assists and an ace.

Also adding significant stats for the Senators were Mariah Autobee with eight digs, and Haylie Marumoto with seven digs.

The loss takes D&E to 14-11 overall and 7-6 in the Mountain East Conference.

The Senators play two of their final three regular season games on the road as they look to bounce back against Concord this Friday, October 28 at 7pm.
