SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Davis & Elkins women's lacrosse suffered its first defeat of the 2021 season in a 14-9 road setback to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon.
Davis & Elkins (3-1) was outscored 10-5 in the opening half before playing to an even second half scoring wise. Notre Dame (Ohio) (5-2) notched its fourth consecutive victory with the home triumph.
Angelina Horan paced the Senators with three goals and two assists, while
Emily Smith (3) and
Courtnie Couch (2) also had multiple goals.
Marissa Cuevas made 13 stops in between the pipes for the Senators, who were outshot 40-27 on the afternoon.
Hanna Bond and Horan scooped up three ground balls each, while Bond added four caused turnovers.
NDC posted four of the first five goals and D&E could not climb back. The Senators closed the opening half with goals from Smith and
Paige Graff, before opening the second frame with the first tally, slicing the NDC lead to 10-7 with 22:46 left.
The Falcons responded, recording four of the next five goals, to pull away as time ticked down.
