BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins women's soccer surrendered an early goal in the seventh minute and could not recover in a 2-1 road loss to West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
Davis & Elkins (0-2) was in action for the first time since its season opener back on February 28. West Virginia Wesleyan (1-1) held a narrow 8-7 lead in shots, but placed five attempts on frame to test D&E keeper
Anna Kerth.
Lisa Milliken led the team with three shots and Kerth made three saves in her college debut as a goalkeeper.
Chrystal Posada labeled the opening goal for the bottom right corner of the net in the seventh minute before Natalie Pireu doubled the WVWC margin with a penalty kick marker.
Brianna Rose had the opening shot attempt of the afternoon in the sixth minute, one of the only opportunities in the first half for the Senators. Milliken attempted the first shot in the second half, with the Senators trailing 2-0, but WVWC goalkeeper Ally Moore was up to the task.
Davis & Elkins is back home on Sunday, March 21 for a matchup with Concord at 2:00 PM.
