Elkins, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins Senators win by two on Saturday against Alderson Broaddus.
The Senators took an early 6-0 lead with two threes to start the game, one made by
Sam Rolle IV to get the game rolling, followed quickly by
Breland Walton. The game went back and forth for the next ten minutes, settling in at 25-20 Alderson Broaddus at the under ten-minute media timeout. D&E trailed until
Sam Rolle IV had a monster dunk at the 8:07 mark, which tied the game at 26. That gave the Senators the momentum they needed to finish out the half and led by 11-points heading into the locker room, 48-37.
Davis & Elkins came out of the locker room with the same momentum leading by as many as 12 at the 15:42 mark in the second half. However, Alderson Broaddus had some fight left in them. They started chipping away at the lead the Senators built. AB's Jalen Knott made it a two-possession game by hitting a three pointer with 7:51 to play. D&E was determined to never give up the lead despite the effort from Alderson Broaddus and come out with the 2-point victory, marking their first home win of the year.
Sam Rolle IV led all scoring with 25-points, twelve of which came off 4 three-point baskets.
Breland Walton wasn't far behind in the scoring column with 16-points, and
Bryton Bissainthe and
Evan Busby both had twelve. The Senators contributed 19 bench points and forced double digit turnovers.
The Men's Basketball team is back in action and look to get their second home win, Wednesday night against Salem.
