SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Davis & Elkins battled through four hard-fought sets to earn their fifth Mountain East Conference in a row and push their conference record to 7-1.
The Senators and Falcons were fairly evenly matched through the first three sets as D&E won sets one and two by a score of 25-22. Notre Dame held off a late rally in set three to win 25-20 and force a fourth set. The fourth and final set was the closest yet, as it took a few extra serves to decide a winner with D&E winning the set 28-26.
Macie Magallon led the attack for D&E with 24 kills.
Brilane Manchego added a game-high 55 assists and
Mariah Autobee led the Senators with 20 digs.
Molly Jandris was also solid in the match, leading the Senators with 3 service aces and contributing the second highest number of kills (13) and assists (14).
With the win and a loss by West Virginia State University, the Senators move into a tie for first in the South Division of the Mountain East Conference with the Yellowjackets currently holding the tiebreaker due to their win over D&E on October 5.
