  • Name: Brittany Morgan Wade
  • Hometown: Windsor, Virginia
  • Major: Exercise Science
Throughout Brittany’s four years at D&E she has battled many injuries, yet always found a way to put the gear on and catch every inning of her career – not a lot of catchers can say that. Brittany has grown over her time in the classroom and on the field. Starting as a freshman behind the plate, she grew quickly into the voice of the infield and her knowledge of the game is unmatched in our conference. She was known as the general of our defense & would without hesitation shout out shifts & situations.

Wade posted a .976 career fielding percentage and committed just 14 errors in 131 games.
  • Most Memorable Moment (Your Sport): Knocking Cedarville out of the conference tournament; hotel party at the conference tournament with all of the teams; all of the senior days where it rained and we had to soak up the field and so much more!
  • Most Memorable Moment (Outside Your Sport): My internship for my practicum and becoming an RA
  • Who would you consider a role model from your time at D&E?: Dr. Riggleman
Though her knee sometimes slowed her down, you would always see her doing some sort of workout on the side. She was a big fan of scouting reports – studying hitters on the bus and early mornings during breakfast at the hotel. She wanted to know everything she could on each opponent, and was always reading stats.

  • Future Plans Following Graduation: Currently waiting to hear back from PT schools, but if I don’t get in this cycle I will reapply for the next cycle. In the meantime, I will be taking one or two classes, retaking my GRE, taking my strength and conditioning specialist exam and working as a PT tech. In doing this, I hope to improve my application for PT school. Also, I have considered looking at coaching or giving lessons at any level. I want to give back to the softball community like many have done for me in the past.

  • Message to future D&E student-athletes: Take care of your body. My season unfortunately ended due to two injuries: Labrum tear and ACL tear. If I would have just taken care of my body the last three years, I would have probably been able to play my senior year. So, if you have an injury or are sore please go to the training room. I know you don’t want to miss practice or a game, but it's better than missing an entire season. Our athletic trainers are amazing and are going to do everything they can to get you healed and back out on the court, field, track or in the pool. Also, these next four years will go by in a blink of an eye. Take advantage of every moment and opportunity. Make memories and have fun!
Brittany will be a great coach one day and I thank her for her time here at D&E and her dedication to her academics and to our program. I’m sure going to miss fixing her chest protector every single inning.
